Seth Lugo delivered another quality start for the Padres, the 5th in his last 6 starts, as they opened their series against the A's with an 8-3 win in Bob Melvin's return to Oakland. Fernando Tatis went 2-3 including a 1st inning home run, while Lugo struck out 7 while allowing 3 earned runs over 6 innings of work. Jose Azocar mashed his first career home run, a 3-run shot in the 9th inning that gave the Padres some extra breathing room. It was the team's 2nd win in a row, and will look for another victory on Saturday with Matt Waldron on the bump.
