The Padres suffered an excruciating loss on Sunday afternoon, with the Reds scoring two runs off of Robert Suarez in the bottom of the 9th to earn a walk-off win. Xander Bogaerts gave the Padres a 1-0 lead with his solo homer in the 4th inning. Elly De La Cruz tied the game in the 6th with an RBI-single. Jose Iglesias drew the start at third base, and drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 7th inning. Jeremiah Estrada and Jason Adam each pitched a scoreless frame, setting up Robert Suarez for a save in the bottom of the 9th. De La Cruz led off the inning with a line drive to Tyler Wade that he dropped, but was ruled a hit rather than an error. After Austin Hays flew out, Gavin Lux drew a walk, and then Spencer Steer's single brought in De La Cruz for the game-tying run, as Steer continued to torment the Padres in this series. After Jose Trevino's single loaded the bases, Will Benson ripped a single down the right field line to complete the comeback for the Reds.

One of the biggest reasons the Padres lost on Sunday was that they went 0-13 with runners in scoring position. Suarez's struggles continued, as he suffered his third loss in the month of June. The Padres now travel to Philadelphia for a 3-game series against the Phillies.
