San Diego State came from behind to beat San Jose State 71-68 at Viejas Arena on Tuesday night, rallying from a 21-point deficit to earn the win. It was the largest deficit the Aztecs have overcome that led to a win since 2017. Magoon Gwath, fresh off being named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, led the way with 24 points for the Aztecs. San Diego State trailed by 21 points with 7:03 remaining in the first half, but cut that deficit to just 12 points at the half. San Jose State made twice as many three-pointers as SDSU, but the Aztecs outscored them 40-12 in the paint, and were able to overcome a 12-point halftime deficit to earn a 3-point victory and improve to 14-5 on the season. Up next for San Diego State will be a visit from the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday evening.
