According to Yahoo Sports, the woman who accused former San Diego State punter Matt Araiza of being involved in a violent gang rape at a college party in 2021, resulting in Araiza being released by the Buffalo Bills prior to his rookie season, has agreed to dismiss her civil suit against Araiza. San Diego authorities had already investigated the allegations and declined to prosecute him after determining he had already left the party when the alleged assault was said to have taken place. In response, Araiza filed his own defamation suit against the woman, but has agreed to drop that in exchange for her dropping her civil suit. Araiza has reserved the right to sue the woman's attorney Dan Gilleon. Araiza admitted to having consensual sex with the woman, but always maintained his innocence relating to being involved in the gang rape.
