Alba shared that she often meditates, "carves out self-love time," and routinely sees a therapist to talk out her feelings, and these things aid in helping her maintain her mental health. She added that she finds healing in putting her phone down and spending quality time with her children.

Chiming in, Mathis, said "I take long baths whenever possible and I meditate and I like to cook, I like to actually get in the kitchen and that's kind of like a really zen time for me."

When discussing how people can have more meaningful conversations regarding mental health they both agreed that coming from minority households, it's still very difficult to have those conversations because of the stigma placed on mental health. "Making space and opening up for vulnerability. I think that's really key especially for communities that aren't accustomed to those conversations," Alba suggested.

"Having more meaningful conversations about mental health starts at a young age. So I feel like it starts at home, it starts with our kids I think we come from communities where its not necessarily the norm," Mathis added.

She continued, "it doesn't make us weak to talk about our feelings so I think if we can encourage our kids to open up more now and express themselves in more positive ways and also more meaningful ways, then I think it'll change a generation."

The two-hour broadcast was hosted by Carson Daly, Audacy’s Katie Neal, and psychologist Dr. Alfiee M.
