A few weeks ago, a Plano woman named Brandy Bottone made national headlines for sparking an interesting debate about pregnancy. As the Roe vs. Wade controversy was spiking, Bottone happened to get pulled over driving in the HOV lane (reserved for cars with two or more passengers).

As the officer issued her a citation for being a solo driver, she insisted with the current climate of the Supreme Court, she technically had another person in the vehicle. Here's where the law gets tricky: under Texas' abortion law, a fetus is considered a human being. However, the state's transportation code doesn't recognize an unborn baby as a passenger.

Bottone was issued a $215 citation which she planned to fight in court. The hearing has been delayed, and over the weekend, she welcomed her daughter (*paywall*).
