Are you an airplane seat recliner or not?  It seems you can only fall on one side of the issue or the other, there’s no middle ground.

However you feel, you may not have a choice in the near future as an article posted on Conde Nast Travelerclaims that reclining seats in economy class will soon be phased out on airplanes.

Like most decisions, getting rid of reclining seats has to do with the bottom line.  Seats that don’t recline have fewer mechanics and gears, meaning they weigh less, meaning the plane is lighter and won’t use as much fuel to complete flights.

Some budget airlines have already implemented what they’re calling “pre-reclined” seats, though some airlines have simply reduced the average recline of their seats from four inches to two.

When major airlines across the world add these new seats remain to be seen.  But we’re sure everyone who’s had a drink spill on their lap before because the person in front of them reclined too hard will be grateful when they do.
