Per WFAA, Whataburger has declared August 8 to be “National Whataburger Day” to celebrate 73 years in business!

Whataburger was founded in Corpus Christi in 1951, so you can imagine just how many Whataburgers have been consumed over the past seven decades.

On National Whataburger Day, you can score yourself one for free!  You just need to sign up for for Whataburger Rewards, and you can snag a free burger August 7 and 8.

In addition, Whataburger has promised to clear $73,000 in school lunch debt, $1,000 for every year they have been serving customers.

The company said in a statement, “At Whataburger, we believe hunger should never be an obstacle to a student’s academic success or prevent them from reaching their dreams.”

And for those who like to collect Whataburger table tents (even though it’s not allowed), Whataburger will be handing out limited quantities of inaugural National Whataburger Day table tents to those who visit the restaurant on August 8.

You can also purchase a special table tent with any order at the online Whatastore.
