An Alabama man has been arrested and extradited back in South Carolina after a sex crime took place back in 1976.
In a release from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office investigators began investigating in October of last year after deputies received a call from the Robertsdale Police department in Alabama regarding a complaint of possible sexual abuse from the accused, 63 year old Peter William Cooper.
Investigators traveled to Alabama and interviewed Cooper who acknowledged what he had done. A warrant was signed and Cooper was extradited back to South Carolina Sunday.
Further charges could be pending from other Upstate areas as more victims come forward. The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone that may have been associated with Cooper in the past to please contact the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
