A local group is asking people to show their patriotism by donating blood.
The Blood Connection will be holding a Freedom Week Blood Drive from June 30th to July 6th.
As organizers explained, the days before and after the fourth of July may be a prime time for grilling out, fireworks and red white and blue. But it’s also the time of year when blood centers see a marked decrease in blood donations.
That’s why the Blood Connection is urging folks to come out to all its centers and mobile blood donations units – there’s one on Woodruff right here in Greenville, for reference.
Organizers say the 4th is a great time for celebrating, but local hospital patients in need of blood transfusions won’t have the same freedom, so get on out there and donate if you have the chance.
The Blood Connection will also be donating $7,000 to the Blood Center of America’s Special Forces Wounded Warrior fund.
