Google’s investment in South Carolina has now exceeded $2 billion. Our own Evan Smith has the details:
It’s already been ten years since Google opened its Berkeley County Data Center, an anniversary celebrated last week at a gathering of Google executives, and state and local officials.
That includes Governor McMaster, who used the event to announce that the company has invested more than $2.4 billion in South Carolina since the data center’s opening.
The crossing of that two billion dollar threshold came in August, with the announcement of a $600 million expansion of the data center in Moncks Corner.
All this comes on the heels of a blog post published online last Wednesday from Google CEO Sundar Pichai announcing $13 billion in new Google investments across 14 states, South Carolina included.
McMaster, for his part, praised Google as a staple of the South Carolina community.
