The conductor of the Bob Jones University Symphony Orchestra was recently named first place winner for The American Prize in Conducting.

Dr. Michael Moore, who also serves as the chair of Bob Jones University’s Division of Music, received the national award for his work during the 2018 through 2019 school year, beating out conductors of other college and university symphonies all over the country.

Moore won for his conducting of the symphony’s rendition of Lucia di Lammermoor, widely regarded as having some of the most difficult roles for performers in all of opera.

The American Prize given to Moore is a series of non-profit national competitions in the performing arts. They give out cash awards and national and international recognition for those working in higher education.
