Mistletoe! It's really a parasite!!
According to more jolly versions of one legend, Baldur (the god of light, joy, purity, and the summer sun in Norse mythology) was killed by an enemy's arrow comprised of the hemiparasistic mistletoe. Baldur's grieving mom, the goddess Frigg, wept tears of sorrow onto the arrow and brought her boy back to life! Overcome with joy, Frigg blessed the mistletoe plant and vowed a kiss to anyone who passed beneath it.
