
At 11 p.m. Friday night, an Anderson County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop an individual in Piedmont.
The vehicle did not stop, and a low speed pursuit began on Highway 86.
The suspect eventually stopped and attempted to flee on foot. The deputy chased the individual until he pulled a handgun out and pointed it at the deputy.
The deputy fired at the suspect, striking him at least once. He was then taken to the hospital for the injury.
The deputy was uninjured.
The State Law Enforcement Division was called in to investigate the case, and the Anderson County Sheriff's Office is not releasing any additional information during the ongoing investigation.
