Press Release from Spartanburg County Solicitor, Barry Barnette:
SPARTANBURG MAN RECEIVES 18-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR DRIVE-BY SHOOTING
A Spartanburg man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for a drive-by shooting that injured two people.
Trevion Antonio Anderson, 20, pleaded guilty to attempted murder, 2 counts of first-degree assault and battery, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and unlawful carrying of a pistol on Thursday.
The shooting occurred Oct. 19, 2018 at the Quail Point Apartments on East Blackstock Road.
Anderson was riding in a burgundy vehicle when he fired multiple gunshots at 4 young men who were walking to a nearby convenience store.
Two of the men were hit by the gunfire. One of the victims was hit through both thighs and suffered damage to both of his femoral arteries.
He was rushed to emergency surgery and spent significant time in the hospital. Another victim was shot in the foot.
Witnesses reported the gunfire came from the seat behind the driver.
Surveillance video from nearby gas stations helped deputies identify the involved vehicle.
The video showed Anderson driving the car when he stopped to pick someone up. Anderson moved to the seat behind the driver.
The car made a lap through the apartment complex before the gunfire erupted.
“This was a calculated act of violence and I’m thankful the victims survived their injuries,” Assistant Solicitor Spenser Smith said.
Smith partnered with Assistant Solicitor Katie Sieber to prosecute the case.
Charges are still pending against another person in connection to the drive-by shooting.
Anderson also pleaded guilty to unrelated weapons charges that were filed in 2018 and 2016.
Circuit Judge Derham Cole issued an 18-year prison sentence on the attempted murder charge.
Anderson received a consecutive 15-year prison sentence that was suspended to 5 years of probation for the balance of the charges.
