The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office reports an inmate at Tyger River Correctional Institute in Enoree died early Wednesday morning.
Authorities called EMS after Willie Clarence Pitts, Jr., 52, was found unresponsive.
He died around 3:30 AM.
The preliminary exam did not suggest foul play.
It is also not expected that Pitts' death is COVID-19 related, but a test will be administered due to protocol.
