Hobart Lewis and A.T. “Tommy” Smith will have a runoff on January 21st to clinch the nomination after today’s GOP Primary special election for Greenville County Sheriff.
The two candidates had a strong lead from the beginning with Darius Hall a bit behind and Robert Whatley and Sean Zukowsky trailing at the back.
With 100% percent of precincts reporting:
Hobart Lewis - 37.29%
A.T. "Tommy" Smith - 32.68%
Darius Hall - 17%*
Robert Whatley - 9%*
Sean Zukowsky - 4%*
Approximately 30,000 people voted.
The winner of the GOP nomination will face Democrat Paul Guy in the March special election.
The sheriff's position was opened after former Sheriff Will Lewis was found guilty of misconduct of a public officer in October.
