As the Spartanburg Police Department continues to seek ways of improving the safety of our roadways, we encourage all citizen drivers to be mindful of the dangers associated with distracted driving.
Distracted driving remains a growing trend that affects the safety of our roadways today.
Distracted drivers are not just a threat to themselves, they are a danger to everyone else on the road.
The national distracted driving effort focuses on ways to change the behavior of drivers through legislation, enforcement, public awareness and education.
Distracted driving is dangerous, claiming 2,841 lives in 2018 alone. Among those killed: 1,730 drivers, 605 passengers, 400 pedestrians and 77 bicyclists.
