Upstate SC Alliance hosted a meeting today about the Department of Commerce's COVID-19 response.
George Acker, the Existing Industry Manager at the SC Department of Commerce said many companies have proven eager to help fight COVID-19 in any way they can.
Jennifer Fletcher, Deputy Director of SC Department of Commerce, reported companies are still reaching out to initiate projections.
Since March 1, the business team has initiated 41 new projects.
Thus far only one business has cancelled a project with the Department of Commerce due to COVID-19.
Fletcher said the response component of AccelerateSC, described as the business portion of the recovery effort, is meeting today.
Fletcher outlined a long list of discussion topics they hope to cover at the meeting today, including returning to work protocols, access to PPE, childcare for workers, and the issue of persistent unemployment. The Dept. of Commerce continues to collaborate with state and federal partners to provide resources to businesses.
