Earlier this week, we reported on Governor Henry McMaster's plans for SAFE Grants.

Today, an attorney released a statement saying a Circuit Court Judge has signed a Temporary Restraining Order, preventing the distribution of SAFE Grants.

Released by Williams & Williams.
This morning, a Circuit Court Judge in Orangeburg County signed a Temporary Restraining Order to prevent the State from distributing any "Safe Access to Flexible Education Grants."
This Order comes as a result of Governor McMaster's announcement that he intends to spend thirty-two million dollars on private school education from the Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund, an amount representing a majority of the fund's resources.
The Plaintiff's Attorney, Skyler Hutto, along with Attorneys representing the State are expected to be heard in Court next week concerning whether or not this Order will become permanent.
The Plaintiff's Petition and Complaint to the Court claim that Governor McMaster's plan violates the portion of the State Constitution that prevents the State from funding private or religious education.
