The Greenville County Sheriff's Office issued the following press release Tuesday.
It has been brought to our attention that an age old SCAM has been resurfacing involving callers contacting people in the community and representing themselves as deputies.
The scammers are telling people that they have missed jury duty and must “pay a fine” to avoid an arrest warrant being issued against them.
Please note that this is a SCAM and the Sheriff’s Office will NEVER solicit money over the phone for any reason whatsoever.
If you receive a phone call suggesting otherwise, please hang up and report them to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office at 864-467-5300.
