Just one day away from the election, people are still lining up to cast their vote ahead of time.
Lines at polling places around the Upstate have had wait times over an hour for the last few weeks. In fact, early voting lines became so congested, Greenville County Board of Voter Registration & Elections Director Conway Belangia issued a release on October 27 suggesting anyone who had yet to cast their ballot wait until Election Day.
Even storms did not keep voters away as hundreds of locals lined up last Thursday in Simpsonville, some waiting up to two and a half hours.
A Statista report quoted data from the U.S. Elections Project, which shows 28,378,765 in-person votes and 53,663,285 mail ballots, approximately 82 million in total, had been cast as of October 30, 2020.
The approximately 82 million early votes cast this year are roughly 26 million more than the 56 million early votes cast in the previous presidential election.
The U.S. Election Project reports roughly 1.13 million South Carolinians cast their votes early through mail-in ballots or in-person voting as of October 30, 2020.
For those intending to vote on Election Day, a Polling Place Locator is available through Vote.org.
