For years, South Carolina and other states have been trying to end this "Spring ahead, Fall back" of the clocks.

This weekend is Daylight Savings Time, it begins Sunday, March 10, 2024, so don't forget to turn your clocks FORWARD one hour when you go to bed Saturday night.

In South Carolina, legislation has been introduced to make Daylight Savings Time permanent. On February 7, 2023,  a bill was introduced to put an end to daylight savings time THIS year, provided the "STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL SUBMIT A WAIVER REQUEST TO THE FEDERAL SECRETARY OF TRANSPORTATION PERMITTING AND APPROVING THESE PROVISIONS IN ORDER FOR THEM TO TAKE EFFECT." According to the State House website, the bill is currently residing in the House Committee on Judiciary.

South Carolina isn't the only state trying to do this, 18 others are as well, including North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures website, Because federal law does not currently allow full-time Daylight Savings Time, Congress would have to act before states could adopt changes.

In the meantime, states will keep trying and you and I will keep on switching those clocks. So, set your clocks forward and just enjoy that extra hour of daylight.
