A former Upstate caregiver who entered guilty pleas on multiple charges is set to only do 30 days behind bars. Attorney General Alan Wilson says, 29 year old Danielle Gilbert Nicholas of Converse, pleaded guilty to 5 counts of theft of a controlled substance, and the neglect and exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
The charges stem from when Nicholas worked as a caregiver at a facility in Spartanburg between October 2020 and March of 2021. Investigators say, during that time she neglected and exploited 5 residents by keeping their prescribed pain medications from them.
The AG's Office says, Nicholas fully cooperated with the investigation. She was originally sentenced to 5 years, but that sentence was suspended to 30 days in jail and 3 years of probation.
