Charges against a sitting County Councilman from the Upstate are set to be dismissed. Spartanburg County Councilman Mo Abusaft was charged with assault after an incident at USC Upstate, earlier this year.
Officials say video from the scene revealed that the alleged victim approached Abusaft and made physical contact which initiated the incident. During a court hearing last month, Abusaft asked for the charge to be dismissed based on video from the scene.
The judge's ruling has not yet been formally handed down, but both parties have reportedly been notified. This is the 2nd time in recent years that Abusaft has been charged with assault, his previous case was also dismissed.
