Legislators in Columbia are discussing a bill that would make it illegal for any U.S. foreign adversary to own or lease property in the Palmetto State.
H 3408 also calls out China and the Chinese Communist Party, as well as Russia, Iran and North Korea as nations that would be prohibited from owning, leasing or having any control over real estate in South Carolina.
The bill was originally filed in December of 2024 and is co-sponsored by several upstate representatives and has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
