Another cold-case murder suspect is no longer facing trial in Greenville County. All charges have been dropped against one of three suspects accused of the 2015 ambush murder of a teenager on a bike and hiking trail, near the Greenville Tech campus.
Christopher Dendy, Jr., Tyleek Johnson and Jayveon Sanders were eventually arrested, all three charged with murder and violent-crime weapon possession in connection with the shooting death of 16-year-od Cobey Smith at Sliding Rock Creek.
However, court records now show all charges against Sanders have been dismissed without comment. Charges remain in place against the two others.
Prosecutors dropped murder and accessory charges earlier this week against a Greenville County couple who had been facing trial in the case of Nishan Huff who was found shot to death in her apartment in 2006.
A solicitor's office source said witness credibility issues made conviction in that case unlikely.
