A Charlotte man has been convicted after prosecutors say he sexually abused a child for nearly a decade. Court records show that 67 year old, Lawrence Drumgoole pleaded guilty to a charge of 1st degree statutory rape.
The survivor, who was a foster child placed with Drumgoole and his wife in 2006, was abused from the age of 7 until she was 16.
Drumgoole was sentenced to between 16 years and just over 20 years in prison. He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon release.
He still faces pending charges in another county for the same abuse.
