A co-conspirator and family member of a disgraced former Upstate lawman will be doing time in federal prison. Lawson Berry Watson better known as "LB", was sentenced in federal court, Thursday morning.
Watson is Wright's cousin and he pleaded guilty for his role in the scam that rocked Spartanburg County and broke the public's trust. Watson had been getting paid by the county for work that he never did, he's been ordered to pay nearly $350,000 in restitution. Watson has been sentenced to 16 months in federal prison.
Another co-conspirator Amos Durham is also being sentenced, Thursday afternoon. He was due in court after Watson. The leader in the scheme, Chuck Wright has been sentenced to 41 months. There's no parole or early release in the federal system.
