Clemson University's Board of Trustees met in a special called video meeting Thursday morning and announced that Dr. Benjamin Ayers will be the next president at Clemson.
Dr Ayers is currently employed as the University of Georgia's senior vice president for academic affairs and provost. Ayers will begin his role as Clemson president on August 1.
The Compensation Committee during the meeting approved a 5 year contract with a base salary of $1 million plus various performance based incentives.
This comes just days after the previous nominee, Kevin Guskiewicz, backed out of the offer he had accepted from Clemson to remain at Michigan State.
