An Upstate native has made history by leading NASA's Artemis II Mission. Charlie Blackwell-Thompson is NASA's 1st female Launch Director and is leading the ground operations for the mission.
She is a Gaffney High School alum and Clemson graduate. Blackwell- Thompson became NASA's Launch Director about a decade ago and she oversaw the 2022 Artemis I mission.
The Artemis II is looking to be the 1st crewed flight to the moon in over 50 years.
