A North Carolina girl is being praised for her heroics after she saved her younger sister from their burning house. The incident happened in Lexington, about 60 miles northeast of Charlotte.
12 year old, Gracie Hoyle was reportedly sleeping when a smoke alarm went off inside their home. Gracie was able to her 8 year old sister out of the burning house and then tried going back for her great grandmother. Fire crews arrived on the scene around that time and were able to rescue the trapped woman.
She was taken to a local hospital and as of Sunday, was said to still be in the hospital. The local community is said to be collection donations and rallying in support of the family.
As of this time, fire officials have not yet determined what caused the blaze and the fire remains under investigation.
