A Western North Carolina couple has been charged after a man under their care died. The McDowell County Sheriff's Office responded January 30th after a man suffered cardiac arrest at a home in the Nebo Community.
The man, 46 year old Joseph Blevins was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. Investigators determined that 36 year old, Dustin Suttles and 31 year old Katelyn Elliott were supposed to be responsible for caring for Blevins.
The couple had reportedly left the man by himself while they went to Tennessee, they returned to the home in North Carolina, the day Blevins died.
Suttles and Elliott were later taken into custody in Pigeon Forge after both were charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult. The couple is awaiting extradition back to McDowell County.
