One of South Carolina's most publicized murder trials ever could be set for a second act. Alex Murdaugh and his defense team are set to appear before a judge next month.
His lawyers will get a chance to argue their motion for a new murder trial after Murdaugh was convicted more than 9 months ago of killing his wife and son in 2021.
The defense has raised claims of tampering in the murder trial against Colleton County Clerk Of Court Rebecca Hill. That is their basis for the motion for a new trial.
The motion is set to be heard in Richland County starting in late January. Former South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal will preside over the motion hearings.
