The unexpected weekend death of Senator Lindsey Graham has sent shockwaves through South Carolina. Various elected officials and leaders throughout the state have weighed in with their thoughts in response. A number of them joined the Tara Show, Monday morning to weigh in.

Congressman Ralph Norman reflected on Graham's memory and was asked about running for the Senate Seat left open by Graham's death. Norman "People are remembering Lindsey and rightfully so, for being the man he was". When asked if he was going to run for the vacant seat Norman said "I am considering and looking at it".

Attorney General and Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Alan Wilson joined the show and said "It doesn't matter how you felt about Lindsey Graham he was undeniably a major force in South Carolina and national politics. His imprint will be on this state for decades and decades".

Congressman William Timmons said of Graham " He was a friend and a mentor. We traveled quite a bit and bonded. He was very helpful in mentoring me and helping to make me a better public servant".

A Republican Primary will be held in August to name Graham's long term successor. The winner will move on to the November General Election to face Dr. Annie Andrews. Governor McMaster will be making an appointment of someone who will fill the seat in the interim.
