Deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office have located and apprehended escaped prisoner Billy Fletcher. He reportedly escaped from work detail in Carter County, Tennessee and fled to the Palmetto State.
Fletcher was spotted a Greenville County Wal-Mart in late June. Officials in Tennessee say they believe Fletcher is connected to the disappearance of 61 year old, Victor Birchfield.
They believe the two met up sometime after Fletcher escaped. Birchfield's car was found in the Clemson area, however he remains missing.
After SLED received a tip, deputies located and arrested Fletcher without incident around 8:40 Thursday night on Sulphur Springs Road in the Berea community of Greenville county.
Fletcher will be held at the Greenville county Detention Center on a fugitive from justice warrant until officials from Carter County extradite him.
