Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office are conducting an active search for a suspect who escaped custody following an arrest.
The incident occurred just before 10:00pm when a deputy got out with a person, identified as 51 year-old, Willie Rogers, near the intersection of Anderson Road and Wilburn Avenue.

Upon learning Mr. Rogers had an active warrant for his arrest (for a drug related bench warrant), the deputy reportedly placed him in handcuffs and into the backseat of the patrol car. What transpired next is unclear at this time, however when the deputy was preparing to leave, it was discovered that Mr. Rogers had somehow escaped and his backseat door was open. At this time deputies have k9’s and air support assisting in the search and ask for anyone who sees Mr. Rogers to call 911 immediately. Willie Rogers is described as a black male, 5-7/170lbs and was wearing a blue shirt with a black hoodie over shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap.
