In January 2025, the Anderson County Sheriff's Office began investigating James Clifton Turner after he paid cash for two Go Carts he bought through Facebook Marketplace.

To their shock, and probably a bit of embarrassment, the sellers learned the cash was counterfeit after they tried to buy items from a store... which rightfully wouldn't accept the bills.

On January 29, 2025, a search warrant was executed on Turner's home. Detectives along with the Secret Service and ATF uncovered  thousands of counterfeit bills, fake checks, and printing machines.   According to the Sheriff's Office, Detectives know he (Turner) used the bills at several local stores and restaurants.

40 year old James Turner is facing breach charges of Obtaining Goods under False Pretenses, while federal charges are still pending.

In August 2024, Turner was behind a bomb scare at a local gas station along North Main Street in Anderson. At that time, law enforcement found a pipe bomb and counterfeit money in his car and other materials at his house.
