A former Charleston, South Carolina police officer who spent more than two decades on the run is back in the custody of the United States. The U.S. Marshals Service says, 53-year-old Dan Hiers Jr. was arrested in China after fleeing the country in 2005.
Hiers was facing child sex crime charges and had been charged with killing his wife. She was shot in the head in he murdered his wife in Goose Creek, while she was reportedly sleeping.
Hiers was later added to the U.S. Marshals' 15 Most Wanted list. Federal agents took him into custody in Shanghai and are returning him to the United States.
