A former Corrections Officer in Western North Carolina is facing sex crime charges. Officials say, 66 year old James Allen Mathes of McDowell County is accused of having sex with an inmate.
The charge comes after an investigation was launched last month. Investigators say the charges come from an alleged relationship between Mathew and an inmate at the Women's prison in Swannanoa. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office made the arrest.
