GE-Vernova, now ranked as America's leading energy producer, plans to build a manufacturing and development center in Greenville. It's a 160 million-dollar investment that will create more than 650 new jobs.
The corporation's announcement says the project is part of a 600 million dollar strategy to match its US operations to the rising global demand for electricity.
The Greenville project will include new hydrogen fueled research and development technology. Plans call for completion of new GE-Vernova facilities in half a dozen areas around the country within two years.
