A Greenville man will spend more than a decade behnd bars after being sentenced on child sex crime and drug charges.
The 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office says 31 year old Mark Nehemiah Smith entered guilty pleas on charges of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and meth trafficking.
The sex crime charge stems from an incident in 2022, in which a juvenile victim reported being sexually assaulted. The victim told the police that the suspect took her behind a stairwell and sexually assaulted her.
The suspect was later identified as Smith. Then the following year, Smith was found with more than 10 grams of meth and a stolen gun during a traffic stop.
He has been sentenced to a total of 16 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
