A Greenville man has been sentenced for killing the mother of his child. In May of 2023, 18 year old Genesys Rice was found shot to death at the Jasmine Cove Apartments in Simpsonville.
The father of her child now 24 year old, Akevious Dayquan Lindsey was charged with her murder. Court records say that months before her death Rice was hospitalized, she stated that Lindsey beat and strangled her.
Prosecutors said that Rice was in the process of ending the abusive relationship, when she was killed. Lindsey pleaded guilty to murder and a weapons violation. He's been sentenced to 50 years in state prison.
