An Upstate-based non-profit utility company is being recognized for their work following the devastation of Tropical Storm Helene last year.
The Greer Commission of Public Works announced that they were recognized by the American Public Power Association, or APPA, through three separate awards.
They were given the Award of Excellence in print and digital, web and social media, and video for their communication efforts during recovery and power restoration efforts.
Greer CPW was also honored with the Award of Excellence for Issues Management and Crisis Communication by the South Carolina branch of the International Association of Business Communicators.
Two of these awards marked a first for Greer CPW, and the power company’s Chairman, Gene Gibson, expressed gratitude in a press release, saying, “Our team worked around the clock to keep the community informed and supported during Helene, and these awards are a reflection of that dedication to service.”
