Greenville-Spartanburg International is celebrating its 60th anniversary as the regional hub for air travel as well as air freight from local manufacturers to the world. It opened to the public as "the jetport" on October 15th, 1962.
Airport District Commissioner Dave Edwards told guests at Thursday's celebration luncheon GSP has become "a major economic engine and model for other airports to emulate."
Edwards credits both the airport's personnel and loyal passengers for that, adding,"we're looking forward to another six decades of success."
