A leading firearms maker is set to open up shop in the Upstate. Gun manufacturer, FN America is set to produce small arms and related products in the future at a site near Liberty.
The Pickens County Council voted in favor of tax breaks on Wednesday, to entice the company to settle there. SC Biz News reports that FN America is expected to invest 33 million dollars in their new facility and create about 175 new jobs.
The company has contracts to provide weapons to the U.S. Military and law enforcement agencies across the nation. The company has operated a plant in Columbia, SC since the early 1980's.
FN America says, they plan to break ground in Liberty next year and the 100,000 square foot facility is expected to be fully operational in 2025.
