Fatal Crashes
Lee Rogers

The disturbing trend of fatal crashes continue on roads around the Upstate. The Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal crash in Spartanburg County Tuesday night and another from the early morning hours Wednesday.

In the first fatal crash, the Highway Patrol is investigating still another single vehicle loss-of-control traffic death. The driver was killed, three passengers injured, when a car veered off of Mayo Road near Cowpens about 10:45 PM Tuesday. It struck an embankment and some trees before it flipped upside down back onto the roadway. The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office has not yet released the fatally injured victim's identity.

The second reported crash left one person dead and another injured after a single vehicle crash in Greenville County. The wreck happened just after 1 AM Wednesday on 385 South near the 33 mile marker, about 2 miles east of Mauldin. Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the driver ran off the road, hit a guardrail, overcorrected, and crossed 385 hitting a median barrier. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle. The passenger was injured and taken to an area hospital. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
