An enhanced law enforcement presence at a Western North Carolina school Friday following reports of a vague threat. Enka Middle School in Buncombe County reported “vague and concerning messages” discovered on a bathroom wall at the school Thursday.
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office was informed, and additional Student Resource Officers were dispatched to the school out of caution.
School officials sent a message to parents regarding the discovery, saying, “The safety and security of our students is always our top priority, and, as such, we take all threats seriously.”
The sheriff’s office is investigating the messages and asks anyone with information to contact either them or the school.
