More first-responder testimony Friday and a crime-scene interview with Alex Murdaugh himself was shown to jurors in the former kingpin lawyer's double-murder trial at Walterboro.
Alex Murdaugh's on-the-scene statement to investigators took place in a Colleton County sheriff's office car. It was recorded, and played back today for the jury, Friday. In the video, Murdaugh explained what he did when he found the bodies.
Prosecutor Laura Rutland, who was in that squad car with Murdaugh, testified she saw the horrific amount of blood surrounding both of them, but no sign that anyone had gotten close enough to touch them.
Prosecutors are also trying to widen some cracks emerging in what Murdaugh's defense team termed a "rock solid" alibi, that seemed to make it impossible for him to have killed his wife and younger son, when forensic investigators say they died.
