Various legislators expressed outrage on social media after a Greenville children’s choir was interrupted while singing the national anthem at the capitol and were asked to leave.

Congressman William Timmons on twitter said, “These children were welcomed by the Speaker’s office to joyfully express their love of this Nation while visiting the Capitol, and we are all very disappointed to learn their celebration was cut short.”

He also said the South Carolina delegation is offering to cover the costs of returning them to the capitol to sing again without interruption.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy also offered to welcome the choir back again after the interruption.

According to capitol police, they stopped the choir due to a lack of knowledge that the choir had permission from the Speaker’s office to be there.
